Throughout my time in the Senate, I have been sounding the alarm about the far left’s climate extremism.
Attention seekers like those in Extinction Rebellion and Blockade Australia are intent on taking more and more absurd action, causing disruption, anxiety and economic damage.
They defaced Australia’s Parliament House and the Lodge, and barely got a slap on the wrist, seeing their “punishment” as tacit approval of their actions.
They’re blocking our railways, clogging the roads and blockading major ports, and they’re doing it all in the fight for unrealistic demands that will have “net zero” impact.
Two weeks ago it was Sydney-siders who suffered. Blockade Australia inflicted a week of “demonstrations” that saw entitled activists clash with police.
Demonstrations began around 8am at Hyde Park, where police allege about 60 protesters joined protest activity across the city’s streets.
Protesters threw concrete blocks, garbage bins, bikes and ladders onto the city streets in an effort to disrupt traffic and delay police officers trying to put a stop to the protest.
“The behaviour of this group was nothing short of criminal activity,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Paul Dunstan told reporters on Monday afternoon.
But this behaviour isn’t unique to Australia, we’re seeing it around the world.
It’s selfish and delusional.
The world hasn’t been short on harmful lies and misinformation over recent years, but few are as harmful, invasive and destructive as the cry of climate alarmism.
In Australia and around the world these protests turn violent and lead to people getting hurt.
TIME TO PUT A STOP TO THE LIES
Climate alarmism is built on a lie, is being pushed in a deliberate effort to poison young and impressionable minds and is designed to do nothing but cause us harm.
It’s a divisive and extremist message – and it just so happens to be in vogue.
