Remarks: During the ‘first wave’, the case fatality rate (the ratio of the number of deaths to the number detected infections) hit 19% in France, 15% in the UK and 5% in Germany. That was scary times. And now the number of detected infections are starting to rise again in France, Germany and UK. But most importantly the number of deaths aren’t. Using the latest numbers from (Our World in Data) the current (not cumulative) case fatality rate in France is down to 0.3%, the UK 0.7% and Germany 0.3%. CRAIG KELLY MP1)Facebook Post:  https://www.facebook.com/CraigKellyMP/posts/1604065019788126: HAVE A LOOK AT THE LATEST DATA FROM FRANCE, GERMANY AND THE UK.

To start with, surely our greatest concerns must be about the number of deaths first and the hospitalisations second – and not just the number of infections, especially when the evidence shows that many people are ‘infected’ and show no symptoms.

You can argue the number of infections are an important measure, because that determines the number of deaths. However that all depends upon the case fatality rate.

During the ‘first wave’, the case fatality rate (the ratio of the number of deaths to the number detected infections) hit 19% in France, 15% in the UK and 5% in Germany. That was scary times.

And now the number of detected infections are starting to rise again in France, Germany and UK. But most importantly the number of deaths aren’t.

By my calculations using the latest numbers from (Our World in Data) the current (not cumulative) case fatality rate in France is down to 0.3%, the UK 0.7% and Germany 0.3%.

With these numbers, the harm being done from the lockdowns (the extra deaths that will result from undiagnosed illnesses, the delays in people being treated in hospitals, the increases in child sexual abuse, the increases in still births, the mental health problems, the years of economic hardship that will follow, the overall deterioration in people’s physical health, the hardship and suffering inflicted upon tens of millions) can simply no longer be justified.

These latest case fatality rates should make it clear that the deaths and harm caused by brutal lockdowns and state border closures are likely to greatly exceed any benefit.

But the problem is that we have several state Premiers and their chief medical bureaucrats that have lost all objective and the ability to look at the data rationally and weigh up the costs and benefits.

And perhaps this is why in Victoria they’ve been busy ‘finding’ extra COVID deaths from weeks ago (to add to the daily tallies) and are classifying anyone dying ‘with’ COVID as having died from COVID..
