Ms Palin said authorities are expecting “mass casualties”, and if 100,000 to 250,000 people die, that would be a good outcome. “There have been some projections for the death toll in the US alone to be between one and two million,” she said. “Most people who live here now know of several people, at least, who have contracted the virus. “It’s certainly not just the elderly or the vulnerable, a lot of people who are young, fit and healthy are in ICUs, some fighting for their lives.” Ms Palin said states are being “left to their own devices” in the COVID-19 fight, despite Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, advising states to issue stay-at-home orders. The US has more than 260,000 cases of COVID-19 – making it the most infected country in the world.
