Remarks: Closing Australia’s borders to China ‘may have had a huge impact on virus death rate’ which Italy failed to do and had a sea of Chinese tourist come into their country and then waited too long before ordering social distancing.
These actions have produced the current nightmare Italy is currently experiencing; let’s take a sober look at Italy’s experience.
Today is 23rd March that is 1 month and 1 day ago when on the 22 Feb 2020 Italy had its 1st COVID-19 death and now today the 23rd March there are 5500 dead Italians. Anyone who isn’t worried’ about the deadly coronavirus ‘is either ignorant or lying’.
The Australian’s Dennis Shanahan says while Prime Minister Scott Morrison was criticised for closing Australia’s borders to travellers from China, it may have ultimately impacted upon our lower death-to-infection rate of coronavirus. It comes as Ms Peta Credlin drew comparisons between the infection rate in both Australia and Italy from the novel coronavirus, which showed Australia has more infections that the northern-hemisphere country did three weeks ago. “The point I think has to be made here,” Mr Shanahan told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “Australia closed its border to China very early”. He said “Scott Morrison was criticised” for that decision, but believed the number of Chinese tourists to enter Italy before borders were closed, “had a huge impact” on the nation. “The number of Chinese tourists in Italy we know was the source of Italy’s infection and the spread,” he said.
